When a listing says $1/sq ft, do they mean $1/ft/yr, or $1/ft/mo? For example, $1/6800 sq ft.: $6800/mo, or $567/mo?

I've seen ads/descriptions like this, in a property that is leased/rented it means $1 / SQUARE FOOT / year. In a house or other property that is bought or mortgaged over 30 years they are usually describing the SELLING price as in $5 / square foot X 2,000 square feet means $100,000 : price to be financed.

I have been looking at some commercial real estate lately and they price either price by square foot either by year or by month. $1/sq ft per month is the asking price per square foot for the local Walmart strip mall.

Purchase or lease? They use different terms.

Lease, in this case.

Leasing is almost always per square foot per year in my (Canadian) experience, unless otherwise specified.

Alex, I'm looking at multi-family dwellings in the metro area. If you're interested in renting space (if I do this) feel free to pm me. If you're running away from the metro area, I'm going to call you names. Dirty ones.

You'll need to log in to post.
