On another note, my trusty tape measure says 6-1/16 with cap. 5-1/2 without cap. Taken right from the marker.

Mrs. Deuce pitched all the skinny ones in a purge last weekend but a regular Crayola is NOT 7.1 inches. It's 5.4. I put a $20 in the picture to confirm it's less than six inches.
You know what else is less than six inches? Wait wut?
The Amazon measurement is likely the dimensions of the package.

BTW you might want to get one of these. They don't reach that far but they use well-defined units and they're easy to carry every day:

Definitely. A Category Manager will use one to get the dimensions to put into a 3D CAD program today, such as ProSpace, then design the modular ("shelf") layout, upload that to wally world who then send it to the stores and that's how the stuff gets planned out so you can walk the isles and buy it.
