These officially go live on Tuesday, but I got it done tonight and Alan sent me instructions for uploading it myself (he'd been doing it for me until now) and I tried it and it worked and I can't undo it so you get a sneak peek a few hours early.
Anyhoo, with this podcast, we've officially peaked as journalists. It's all downhill from here. Through an odd confluence of events, we got the chance to interview Dave Brockie, lead singer of the legendary metal band GWAR. Yes, really. We also got to chat briefly with the real lead singer of GWAR, Oderus Urungus, who lives with Dave, and sometimes occupies the same body.
Even if you're not a metal or GWAR fan, though, it's an interesting listen. Their position in their universe is really quite similar to ours. They're outside the mainstream, and have a relatively small but incredibly devoted following of fans. They bust their butts to make the most of their limited resources. And they pursue what they do with true passion. It's a different scene, but it's a very familiar universe.
This one's got a few bad words, but it's not overtly offensive. It's just a few four-letter words that flew out in casual conversation. But consider yourself disclaimed.

Hmmm. This very well might be the first podcast I check out. I just downloaded a podcast app not long ago. Time to try it out.
I knew we'd hook a few of you fence-sitters with this one. :)
I enjoyed this one a lot, I'm glad Oderus allowed you and Dave to live another day.

I really don't care one way or another, but when I was doing it I via Skype I did totally imagine him putting the mask on for Oderus.

Haha, he is always the consummate entertainer. You guys are getting the hang of this stuff nicely, I didn't realize you were talking over Skype on that one.
I'm actually digging the Skype ones a lot. If the other side has a decent mic, it's amazing. Super easy to record with a $30 program. i still do my Audio in-studio with a decent mic, but the Skype tracks make it easy to sync.
The problem we have doing them live is that we're using condenser mics, and while they have great sound quality, they tend to pick up a LOT of sound, so you always get some cross-channel feed, no matter how far apart you put the subjects (which is limited by cord length.)
Dynamic mics would sound better, but they also require tighter technique as far as being closer to the mic in general than condensers, having good diction, etc.
Skype solves all that by putting me 1000 miles away from the subject where my mic will never pick up his audio, and vice versa.
Good diction? This is motorsports. Who gives a E36 M3 about diction?
