I really enjoy arrive and drive races with Lemons and other such series. $500 for super E36 M3ty cars up to $1300 for amazing cars gets you a weekend of track time (typically around 4-5 hours actual seat time if all goes well) and all you do is write a check, show up, hang out and race. No tow vehicle needed, no late weekends prepping for the race, etc. I also like to get my hands dirty with my cars, but dang is it nice to just show up and race.

Note that figuring out which teams have their E36 M3 together and spend the whole weekend on track is a learned skill in and of itself. I've spent "almost no" time on track all the way to "5 hours with no problems at all." So it's not risk free, but the same thing is true of your own car.

There is a decent champcar team on the other side of the state too.

Now with 2 cars, so if 1 car has say....  a fuel pump issue....  there is still drive time in the other car...

Find which option makes nonack happiest and pick that one.  Life is too short to settle

So my solution for right now is buckle down and keep plugging away on the rally car (which is still being a real bastard), while still doing other fun (but affordable) stuff so I don't lose my berkeleying mind in between events.  I got to run a MiniGP endurance race last weekend on a friend's bike, which was an awesome way to give myself a bit of a reset (I'm #87):

Getting in on cheap, small racing stuff like this will hopefully keep me sane between rallies.  I sold a E36 M3 ton of spare Merkur parts too, and I may also have bought a challengeworthy MR2 to give myself something fun to drive when the bike isn't an option to keep the "all work and no play" feeling at bay laugh
