I don't need another car, especially one with rust, a quarter million kilometers and a dashboard Christmas tree that would make a VW proud.
But isn't it cute?
One of my favorite spots in the national forest. It's a little challenging to get to and about 6 miles from the nearest pavement so I usually have it to myself.
The theme this week at Little Monohue's preschool is "pirates", and he likes decoding secret messages with the famous Harry Epstein volvelle, so...
Mouse in our tall cupboard with pull out baskets. OK, mouse trap. Nope, he just ate the peanut butter, never tripped it. Well, I never like the new traps with the big yellow plastic pad so I found an old style, you can bend the wire to make a hair trigger; he ate that one and never tripped it either. Rats. I got one of those sticky pads, he E36 M3 all over it and kicked the other traps upside down!
The battle is ON! It's time I sty up late in the dark with a BB gun.
Apparently an Ohio thing? My GF is from just outside of Cleveland and she was telling me about Skyline chili. I was talking to my coworker about it, who is from Cincinnati, and he brought this can in for me. I made chili-mac with it.
Saturday my dad, uncle, and I hived a honeybee colony that moved into a hollow tree last spring. Here's a quick how-to. The hollow log is split. The queen (hopefully) found and placed in a hive. The combs wired into frames and placed in the hive. If all goes well, the flying bees stay in the box and clean the remaining honey from the log. And why not leave them alone? It's very hard to keep bees now due to various diseases and parasites. Honeybees will die in a few years if left unattended and untreated. We treat with oxalic acid once a week. It's important to preserve the genetics of bees that have swarmed from domestic colonies and survived in the wild for a time so hopefully disease resistance increases.
