Cause a lot of us have expectations that we will meet in person at the Challenge some day and we don't want to be face-face with people we have pissed off!

We’re all WAY weirder when you meet us in person. Well, except Seth.
Seth is OUR version of normal, we're all berkeleyin weirdos. He's just our token person who we can pass off as normal to the rest of the world.
But seriously, having met a dozen members last year who were following Seth, Buffalo and Myself on One Lap and came to hang out at random times, You guys are rad.
I joined earlier this year with the idea I'd just lurk and never post anything, I have problems interacting in person at a well adjusted level, online forums baffle me. But because of the warmer atmosphere here I've met a few members in person and felt included.

^every other forum.
In fairness, and speaking as a former administrator on a couple of other large forums, the rate of new member appearances at this forum is pretty placid. When you have between 10-20 new people a week show up, most asking the same basic questions, it's almost impossible to not develop that attitude.
On the opposite side of that coin, the variety of questions that come up is pretty astounding. Even more astounding is that someone answers them who really, really knows a lot.

I was surprised that 914Driver found that meme of Seth........
This place is like the corner bar, and we're all a bunch of alcoholics.

We're certainly very good at enabling.
I've had lunch with Keith, taken a class from Angrycorvair, said hi to the whole GRM staff at the office, slept on Dusterbd and Patrick's couches, rally crewed for Nonack and held Buffalo's baby until she fell asleep and that's a tiny slice of what the forum has brought me in real life. The lot of you are special. Let's hang out a week from tomorrow, yes?
Wish I could be there. Maybe next year.
Anyone in or near to Volusia County want to work on a 2020 entry?
I just realized how many numbers in my phone are tagged with "GRM". I haven't met most of the names attached to those numbers but they have my phone number now and I'm ok with that for some reason. For context, most of my family doesn't have my phone number.
Basic kindness and courtesy are important even when you disagree with someone.

Exactly. The numbers tagged with grm are ones im FAR more likely to text/call back. Other than the immediate family.
And grm folks are about the only people that have been allowed in my couch. Or in my house. Outside of the immediate family and girlscout troop. Very private people. Except for here.
You guys are my family I haven't met yet.
I came here for the build threads, and I have stayed for the atmosphere.
I may never make it to the challenge, but it any grm’ers find themselves in New Brunswick Canada they can look me up.

Well he is a postwhore so I’m not surprised.
Yep, really good group of folks.
I'm starting to think the tail end of One Lap sleep deprived Seth I've met is a bit different from the Seth the rest of you met. I thought he was fairly normal by my standards...

And usually within an hour or two, tops.
Although I don't think we ever did collectively figure out what that weird tool thingus was.

I agree completely. As evidence, I have a used i3 wheel somewhere in PA, picked up by someone I’ve never met and being brought to Gainesville by someone else I’ve never met. How cool is that!
As for the Challenge, how about name tags that reference the person’s screen name?
I've made a few in the past, time's really tight for me this year so if you want one, let me know quick!
Also I no longer have access to that sweet wax printer I used before, so they might not last as long...

Ahh yes that tool thingy... could someone link that thread again? For some reason I can't find it.....
This forum is my personal car shopping location...haha. Bought 3 cars through here. 2 completely sight unseen. I would never do that anywhere else but here is different. There is just a bigger level of trust. Met a few of the members over the year. Great place and I'm glad I met the GRM crew at the first year of SVRA at COTA and stumbled into here.
