just had to share somewhere that isn't public (aka my in-laws don't read)

is it just me or do those off brand cheapo ciggs smell 100% worse then name brand stuff?... i'm a non smoker... I don't appreciate 2nd hand smoke (outside of some good pipe tobacco or a black n mild)... but...

I was cleaning up the garage after moving some stuff around and my bro-in-law comes out to smoke his cheap ciggs... the smell ran me out of the garage it was so bad... but only after starting to gag and almost loosing my lunch... then again the same thing happend when we went to dump out his "spew" bottle in the parking lot (dumped it out from the car)

how do people smoke or chew that stuff?...

rant off

That's called the power of addiction.

When you start it's cool and fun, but by the time it's gross, you're hooked.

Nicotene is evil and powerful

not a smoker either, but my neighbors smoke American Spirits in the turquoise pack.... as far as passive cigarette smells go, they've got to be the worst.

Smoker here. Power of addiction is right. I have tried to quit many times and it seems to get harder the longer I go. As to the cheepie smokes smelling worse you are correct. If you look at a pack of cheep cigs you will find a list of ingredients that you will not find on name brands. The one I tried was so bad I threw them away. Why would I want to smoke "brown sugar"? Yes brown sugar was on the ingredients list. Kind of scary.

and poisonous too...but it does hit the spot as a stress reducer.

Does that mean my lungs are being cured like ham? Mmmm ham-lung, that sounds much better than black lung.

I'm a cigar smoker. All cigarette smoke smells rancid to me. Heck, even I admit to smelling like an ash tray after a long smoke. I often at least change shirts and wash up after smoking. I'm glad it's not a daily habit for me.

Then again, I also make sure everyone is okay with me smoking before I even bring a stick out. I don't understand why so many cigarette smokers are so inconsiderate.

As a cheapie cig smoker, I don't agree, but then again, I have a hard time telling the difference while they are burning. But the smell afterwards, you know the one following you around after a smoke, Marlboro has to be the worst in my opinion, I tend to only smoke outside, and generally try and find somewhere with a breeze to blow it away from me so I don't smell like it long afterwards. I know at work, you can tell the customers who hotbox their vehicles, you can smell em from over 10 feet away.

Smoker here too, I agree the cheap ones smell awful and taste even worse. I'll take my name brand thanks.

Edit: I try very hard to be a considerate smoker though.

Not a smoker, and all cigarettes smell terrible. Before we moved recently, our neighbors above, below, and next to us in that E36 M3 apartment building smoked. Trying to have the windows open to enjoy a nice day was simply not an option. So I'm kind of bitter haha.

Ohh how I miss that bad habit. Today was extra rough as I had to go to the smoke shop to pick up my dad's cope. At this point for me it is purely phsycological, as I havn't had any nic in my system for almost 2 years.

Oh what I would give for a Hoya De Monterrey Excaliber maduro Rothschild or a Cohiba XV660...

Or some dark cavendish in a meerschaum. I have to say I miss pipe the most.

California is pretty nice, in that regard. A few years ago, Mrs. RMD and I were in Palm Springs, having breakfast at a small diner. We were sitting outside, eating blueberry pancakes. Soon, we smelled smoke, and looked around. A few tables over, a guy was puffing away. He politely asked if his smoke was bothering us. We politely said, "Yes." He and his co-diner moved several tables further away.

A couple days later, when we were checking into a hotel, we were talking with the desk clerk and told him that story. He said that in Cali, smokers are second-class citizens and can even get sued if their smoke bothers someone. He admitted he was a smoker.

i used to work at phillip morris. and was always told that the tobacco that falls on the floor got swept up and used in generic brands smokes.

if you think being among one smoker is bad... here in the casinos in Atlantic City, you can only smoke at certain areas of the casino floor. When you walk into one of those areas.. it smells like you are walking into the world's largest ashtray.... it can literally knock you over.

I partake in said habit, and I can TOTALLY tell. I absolutely abhor the smell of smoke (strangely, I have learned to not get it on me) and the generics are the worst. I will stand in a humidor and just smell it for like a WEEK though.

I appreciate the smell of good non burning tobacco... and I've been a pizza driver off and on for a long time... I don't smoke but i'm used to being around smokers and even hanging out with the smokers (not down wind) to shoot the breeze and it's never bothered me before (the ashtray smell stinks but this was completely different... no cig smoke has never made me that nauseous... it was just BAD... and while it was "outside" in the garage the "lovely" smell lingered on though the house...

just felt I needed to rant to someone :)

LOL. Of all the E36 M3 in a cigarette you chose brown sugar to single out as scary? Ha! I'm not going to eat this bag of broken glass because it has silicate in it.

Can you please tell us how you know what burnt cat hair smells like?

Clearly he had a Pinto once that had formerly been home to a family of cats, and well, it started on fire, as Pintos are wont to do.

I remember Dad (a former smoker) commenting that the worst smelling cigarettes were those that my brother started the habit with.

I'm glad that smoking is one of the habits I don't have.

SOOOO true. Back in the day I would occasionally have a smoke when I was drinking, like one or two a month. My brother in law was broke and addicted, and would seriously go into a gas station and just ask for the cheapest smokes they had. One night we went out to shoot some pool, and once I got kinda drunk I bummed one from him. I took one drag and almost vomited. My mouth started watering profusely, and I ran straight to the bathroom. I held it off and somehow didn't puke, but it certainly left an impression. I haven't smoked a regular cigarette since then, and that was about 8 years ago.

i think it depends on the el cheapo brands... i like some cheap brands more than the name brands. But there are other cheapies that are so bad.

I would like to say I'm a social smoker but I find it being more often then that... hmm it's time to cut back.
