I have a friend who has an old kitchen sink (verified to be cast iron) that he want to re-do the porcelain (strip and re-coat). He is not finding anyone that can do this. Any leads? He is willing to ship it (he is in CA).
GRM seems to be able to answer almost any question. There has to be people who need this for old house restorations, but it's probably not a very big market.

I was just looking at this last night and only found mention of one place that will do it. I'll see if I can find the name again and post it.
Edit: This is the article I found. https://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/home/2014/08/19/e68cec48-230d-11e4-8593-da634b334390_story.html
And the website of the company that will redo them: http://www.customceramic.com/
It's an older article and even older website so hopefully they are still around.
Thanks. Yes, hopefully still around. He said he did find some people that used to do it, they just seemed to age out.
There is a guy here in LA that my buddy takes his 195os vintage stoves to get new porcelain ,
not sure if they will do a sink , but I will get the phone number.
Is Epoxy out of the question if the porcelain doesn't pan out?

That would be perfect if he will. A trip down to LA is something he can easily do.
Regarding Epoxy: If it's super close maybe. He is a bit of stickler for orginality and quality. You should see this crazy stove he has (that his dad bought in the 60's) that's all glass and chrome. I will have to get the name so I can post a pic of one.
This is also the dad that bought a Buick Riviera in 1963 with the 425 ci nailhead and factory air (huge Fridgidare box in the trunk), that he drove until he died a few years ago.
Call Claude area code. 562 then 634-4002
he does do sinks if they are not too heavy ,
Located near 710 and 105 freeway , maybe that's Downey
He does a lot of stoves parts , takes them in and sand blasts them , then takes them to the place that fires on the porcelain .
If he will not do it get back to me and I will get you the number for the other guy.
Cheers
OK, great, thanks. I will let him know, and you, if it doesn't work out.
