Stopped going to the gym last summer when Covid got bad and wearing masks were mandatory which was no bueno while working out. Looking for something with a smallish footprint, already have a treadmill and a punching Bob for cardio.

1 Olympic barbell + some bumper plates. Stack the plates and put the bar through the hole. The whole thing stows into a 20" diameter circle.
Alternatively,
A few Kettlebells.
I've been searching for a used Gravitron. You can do a lot for your upper body without taking up a huge amount of floor space.
In reply to Woody (Forum Supportum) :
I can do those exercises with my pull up bar and a set of rings. Zero floor space
Guess I should have mentioned that our kids will most likely be using it as well so user friendliness is also a factor.
Jump rope, weighted jump rope, pullup bar, sidewalk chalk, dumbbells, and a bench. Just don't tear a wrist ligament lifting the dumbbell from the ground into the bench press positoin like I did.
In reply to Woody (Forum Supportum) :
You can use a pull up band for assistance. They work very well.
Kettlebells ftw... you can get small ones
read Pavel Tsatsoulines books they'll do more for you than bout anything else, if you use them right
Another for Kettlebells. If my new gym had more than 4 of them, I'd only ever do Overhead press using them.
I'll dig around, but there was a website for "The Free Home Gym" or something like that made by a dude who just wanted to get jacked as cheaply as possible; at one point he showed how to make kettlebells out of concrete, flat basketballs and PVC pipe for cents apice.
I'm a four mile run, 80 pullups (4 sets - total) and 102 pushups (2 sets- total) a day guy. I feel really good. SO- pullup bar. I welded mine myself. That said, I'd like to get a bar and some bumpers but everywhere has been sold out for months.
I know this isn't probably what you're looking for, but I sprung for a set of Bowflex weights. They're the kind with a bunch of weights and you just spin the dial on the end to select which weights get picked up. That was the only expensive part. I snagged a used weight bench on CL for $20 and bought a resistance band set. Then for $90 I got a lifetime subscription to Athlean X, mostly because I was pretty new to the workout thing. It was nice to have someone show me how to do things and explain what the exercises do.
I think all-in I was under $300, and the footprint is almost non-existent. I fold up the bench and set the weights on it, and the resistance bands hang on the wall.
Since you didn't mention cost factors or actual size I will recommend what we ended up getting, because it folds up on itself against the wall when not in use. Installing ours in the garage.

We got ours in bright green.

So jealous. I have really wanted to go this route for a while. Sold my olympic bar + bumpers (because I was planning on moving) right before covid hit :(
Now all I have is a concept 2, a few resistance bands, and some pullup bars.

Ha, don't be too jealous, I just cleared the wall where it will be installed today and apparently its missing four brackets or they will arrive in the shipment with the uprights. I'm just glad to be able to get back with a serious rack since all I've had since covid hit was a used total gym, and a couple of kettlebells. Kind of frustrated when I figured out I could have got this whole setup for less than I was paying for the family membership to crossfit for one year back when I was doing that.
Edit: If anyone is seriously interested a guy at work who is a bodybuilder is trying to sell his setup with a pretty serious corner rack with bench and Olympic bar and 300 lbs of weights for around 800 bucks. If seriously interested I have pics on my work phone that I can send you.
Another vote for gymnastics rings, kettlebells, and bumpers + barbell or trap bar. Maybe a rower, stationary bike, or treadmill. With rings you don't really need a pull-up bar. If you're not competing in powerlifting a case can be made for trap bar deadlifts vs conventional.
^The problem is the trap bar has much more limiting exercises. If you are going for a minimalist gym, the traditional barbell offers substantially more movements.
Most versatile with medium footpring is going to be olympic bar, rack, and bench. I like a half rack for ease of moving around with least footprint.
Gymnastics rings. Super cheap. Zero footprint. Mobile. SUPER versatile. You can work basically everything except your legs with these. Pull ups, push ups, flies, rows, some of the most killer ab/core work ever. Bonus points that the kids will also probably have TONS of fun with these. The only sort of disadvantage is that they can take a bit of work to level. I actually keep the spirit level in the corner of the garage for if I adjust the height on them.
After that, kettle bells and dumbells, especially if they're adjustable. Then resistance bands.
If you've got the money, but not the space, I'd check out PRX's options for foldaway racks and equipment storage. Really impressive: https://prxperformance.com/collections/profile-racks
Rogue has some similar racks too.
