I recently inherited my great grandfathers fishing gear. Vintage 30's-50's. I am not the collector type, and I am not interested in fishing but have very little historical items from my family. I would like to display the lures, thinking using a shadow box putting in hooks to hang them. Does anybody have any experience? Second item is a Kennedy kit tackle box structurally in good shape but is fairly rusted. Any suggestions on restoration, I made the mistake of using some steal wool to clean it up and now has swirl marks.

There's a wealth of information about vintage and modern fishing tackle among the members. In a number of ways, it's a very similar forum to GRM.

Before you modify any item, they may be worth a ton of money. Get an informed opinion.

Evaporust

Gentle enough to keep the original paint, but it will revert the rust back to a natural iron state.  May still have pitting and such, though

They list for $50, more of a senitmental value rather then making it rich.

In reply to Mr_Asa :

Thats a good thought, do you have expierence if painting that on if it works, or does it really have to sit in it to be effective?

Needs to sit for 24 hrs to really do the job.
