What is your preferred method for reinforcing a convertible top that is starting to get worn spots, but doesn't have holes going all the way through?

I'm noticing several worn spots on the inside of the S2000 roof, where rubbing on things has worn at least partially through the inner layer.

It's a fabric top. It's less than 4 years old. It wasn't installed that well though.

I'm thinking probably a vinyl patch on the inside glued on with RTV silicone.

Yeah, vinyl patch or an old piece of the roof material would help. These usually start tearing up behind the driver's head by the door window, in the corner. I saved a few squares of my old top when someone decided to cut it to get my seats.

Also make sure your elastic straps are still working properly, otherwise the top will not retract in the correct sequence and the catches will break through it.
