Alot of good advice, the only things i have too add are if your working with a lift make sure you use the locks and buy quality jackstands. Watched a friends daytona fall on his foot because the jackstand collapsed. Luckily me and his dad were in the garage so he came out mostly unharmed.

Yes!

Friend in college was replacing a rear U-joint in his F-150, he often did questionable (dumb) things. We went to another friend's parents' house close to campus to utilize garage and tool access. Garage didn't have room, for his truck, so he just drops the driveshaft in the driveway. The truck was an automatic, he didn't chock the tires, didn't set the parking brake, and the driveway has a gradual slope away from the garage. You can guess what happened.

I was in the garage with the other friend, when we heard him yelling for help. He wsa pinned by the driveshaft in his sternum and the whole weight of the truck trying to roll backwards. We had to push the truck up the grade so he could get out from under it. Scary to think of the outcome had he been alone.

This. Even then I find myself going for a sniff even an hour later.

I also keep the cell phone on me, had not thought about the Siri thing. I could care less who she called as long as they could re-direct!

I am in the 'always use jack stands and shove the car a couple of times in different directions before I crawl under it' camp. I usually have my phone streaming music, I really should turn on the Hey Siri thing.

I had thought about making some stacked wood cribbing to shove under the car just in case all hell breaks loose. I usually toss the tires under, but sometimes I'm not yanking a wheel. Something like this:

Possibly paranoid, but one of my biggest fears is being stuck under a car and trying to dig through solid concrete with my bare fingernails. (shudder)
