A confluence of two things happened within 5 minutes of each other: I scratched myself on some rusty scrap metal that I found on our walk - it was in a spot that a dog could easily have cut themselves on, so I picked it up to throw it away. 5 minutes later when I got home, I saw a headline for whooping cough (Pertussis) cases  going up.

Since these are the same vaccine - TDAP - it seemed like a good time to throw this reminder out there. They're typically good for 10 years, but boosters are recommended at 5 years if there is a bad/dirty wound. Since I had my last one in 2018, and this didn't even break skin, I'm planning on my next one in winter 2027/2028.

Yep, checked records at my last physical. I'm good for a few years yet.

Every time I stab myself (usually in the eye) with a piece of rusty metal and have to have it removed in the emergency room they jab me again. On the one hand I'm a slow learner but on the other hand my tetanus is always up to date.

Strangely that is exactly what my wife asked me last night.

Then went on to inquire about Covid and flu vaccines.

Trying to decide if her protective instincts suddenly kicked in or if she's simply looking for the fastest way to get rid of me.
