I have noticed that the Wrangler Unlimited with the painted top is a modern version of the old Cherokee.
Except it doesn't have straight six.

And its considerably more expensive, and will hold its value at a tremendous rate compared to the Cherokee.
I've noted that it seems like almost everything Chrysler does is an attempt to apologize for killing the xj. Nitro, commander, patriot, 4 door jk thingy...

I don't know, I'd venture that you could pick up a 4.0L manual xj in good shape for 3k or less drive it for the next 3-4 years and sell it for within $500 of your original purchase price. I doubt that would be the case with the unlimited w/tin top
I was just looking at the side view and thought hmm, straight axles and all.
I wasn't thinking about cost difference.
Just that it was a modern version.
That's all.
