Great. Thanks. Now I can't get the mental picture of Barry Maguier in clown make-up all ready for a rapin' out of my head.

Not this angry atheist. If he owns the company, he's got every right to decide who he wants working for him or not.

I feel like a genuine idiot for not knowing whether this is state or federal or a little of each (I think it's the latter), but I don't have time to look it up right now. In any case, while somebody can "not work out" and be fired for being abrasive, ineffectual, etc, I believe they generally cannot be fired for religious reasons. Having the word "generally" in there feels wrong... So, you're essentially right, but there are some specific reasons which aren't legally valid for firing someone, and this would be one of them.
What really weirds me out is the idea that it would take ten years to decide he wasn't fervent enough, which makes it seem like it was something else; something which probably wouldn't have created an issue in firing him. Suggests to me that it wasn't over religion in the first place, and we're back to allegations which, without proof, don't mean much.

It seems like it may have more to do with him being an ex son in law, especially given that none of the other "heathen" employees chose to sue. But he is a Christian so bash away. Ofcourse if someone were to say they didn't like doing business with Muslims or Athiests we would tar and feather him.
Like they say, when it's their sandbox, you can only play if they let ya.
Discrimination is wrong, whether for religious reasons, sex, creed, or color. Has nothing to do with being an Atheist IMHO.
(what the heck is creed anyway?)
Oh, creed means religious beliefs!

From the original post: "Y'all know who he is, y'all know what he is"
If "what he is" is anything besides a Christian the poster would be a terrible person for posting it.
This is Apollo Creed

Disagree. Having an opinion (whether morally right or wrong) is not wrong, as well as exercising it. It's like hiring a jew to do your accounting for you...
insert trollface here as there are some people who are very sensitive on this board about jewish stereotypes

Fair enough. I was just reading back over this and feeling foolish for posting what I found about the guy. I don't even know if firing the ex son-in-law was even what the OP was talking about.

this is another type of creed not to be discriminated against.
Yeah, sorry for that one, guys. Barry's a serious fundamentalist (to me that explains a lot of his behavior).
There were a few posts favorable to him in a thread on the main forum, and I was drunk enough to get pissed off about it. After all, people were saying kind things about a man who'd love to see me in an oven..
EDIT: Please consider this an apology, I'm letting it go..
..more creed-related hotlinks are cool, tho. I ROFL'd at the Assassin's Creed one, I love that game!
I hope you can see the distinction between thinking that you are headed for an oven and wanting to see you in an oven. He may or may not believe the former. I highly doubt the latter.

Serious fundamentalist = serious atheist; two peas from different pods, both diseased and rotten.

Peas from different pods.
It's not the denomination, the sect or lack thereof; it's the noxious levels that vocal adherents work to achieve. It doesn't matter what one chooses to believe it or not.
But, you know that unless you've just been defined, or just throwing rocks in still water.
Guys, please..this ain't the place to beat up each other about this stuff. Perhaps my original apology wasn't strong enough? I'm honestly sorry I made the OP. Let's just talk about cars again, OK? There's plenty of other places online where we who hold different opinions about theology can bash each other over the head with full abandon. There's really no reason to do it here (that's why I'm so embarrassed that I attempted to do so in the first place).
I'm honestly embarrassed (and apologetic) that I made that post. I was drunk, and I was angry..ya never let a buddy "off the hook" for being stupid while on a bender? I'd do it for y'all...

That game is all kinds of awesome.
Can't we all just get along? This should be a place for all people. You know, like Red House Furniture. I'm not explaining it well. Here, their commercial will help...
