I'm probably just failing at Internettery, but I'm having trouble figuring out what's correct or conventional for last bits of wiring the data from the house to the shop.
I've got 1" PVC conduit run from a box through the siding at each end (or will be done with shortly), and the house end is pretty easy because the ethernet can just run in the drop ceiling above the tiles with everything else, and spits out into an unfinished utility room where the AP/switch is that it'll plug into.
But at the shop, I think I'd like to have a box with an inspection cover in the wall right where the wire enters, and then continue upward inside the wall and come out into an Ethernet jack in the wall near where I'll probably put the router up in a corner near the ceiling.
Are there device boxes/fittings especially for this application? Or should I just be adapting the plain old receptacle/switch type boxes for my needs? I think maybe the existence of the orange "low voltage" bits makes me feel like there should be more to that collection than the usual one or two ethernet plate holders...
Also not sure what my inspection box gets me, though I'm sure if I ever need to replace that cable it'd be nice not to have to open up the whole wall...

You're probably over-thinking this one. I think a junction box with a punch-down block is what you're looking for, but make sure you're cable runs aren't too long. I can't remember the specs for cat5 and that number may change when you add a junction in the middle of the run.

I suspect you're 100% right about my over-thinking it; just wish the quality of the thought was up there with the quantity...
The total switch-to-switch run is about 80-90', which I think is about 1/3 of most modern Ethernet standards(?), so probably good there.
I'm just hung up on feeling like there should be some sort of firmer anchor of the conduit body to the building, but even the larger one that the electricians installed for the power is just located with a clamp through the siding.
I probably don't even need the junction itself with my run; just having an access point so I can pull through the PVC between buildings and fish straight up to near the ceiling where I want the jack should do it. Thinking there's a "correct" way to do that is probably just part of my over-thinking... Just feels odd to have an access port that basically is a view of a cable coming in and making a turn...
I think you might be looking for something like a patch panel and a small rack to mount it on.

That's how I've put things together at my house.
