Except when you're on I-15 overtaking a semi in third doing 70 and some shiny happy person in a black X6 M merges from the far left lane into my lane, makes wheel to wheel contact (my front driver side to his rear passenger side), then takes off.

If you're reading this berkeley you buddy.

Mostly just rubber on the car, a small nick on the front bumper and a rashed wheel. Luckily I managed to avoid the semi and get away from him before it got worse. And it could have been a lot worse.

I hate this state.

Edit: auto correct botched my clever title :(

Sounds like a chance to do a pit maneuver.

times 1000x, this will sound keyboard commando, but isn't. If you put my body, passengers and property at risk on the road at speed (note road, not track) and cut across the front of me raking the front thrid of my car, I will turn into you, and whatever you spin into, whether it a ditch, 18 wheeler or lava field filled with lava proof razor blades, is on you. There wouldn't been one less X6M on the road had I been behind the wheel and I would've had the video to showcase for all at your memorial service if any asshat from your family even threatened legal action.

It works. I did it to a Forrester that tried to occupy the same part of the right lane I was in. Dumped the brakes, but his rear quarter panel connected with my left front fender and tried to take me with him on a ride off road. So I counter steered into him. Spun him out but good.

Sometimes I really miss my old ratty multi-colored, pre-dented F150. Bring it on bad drivers!

I once had a pizza delivery kid in a cavalier pass me on the right on a country road, he ran out of road and clipped my front right corner as he pushed back into the road to avoid a ditch. I barely felt it, and only had some minor scratches in the paint. He lost the most of the back end of the cavalier.

I love my old beat up F350, crew cab, dually.

It's 22 feet long, with massive chrome bumpers, and dents and scratches from one end to the other. Everyone sees it. Nobody drives near me. Nobody even parks near me. It's like Moses parting the Red Sea.

I did a pick job on a women that hit my brother-in-laws Suburban as I was driving it. It's wasn't intentional but it was the same thing. It didn't work out that well.

I was driving along in heavy traffic in Chicago. I was in the second lane from the right of 4 lanes. She was in the right lane and using her turn signal she indicated her desire to change into my lane. No Problem. Find some space and move over. I just didn't do anything to make that room, just maintaining my spacing to the car in front of me. I was towing a trailer full of lumber at the time FYI.

She keep the signal on for a while and I really stopped watching her as I wanted to keep my eyes on traffic ahead and what it was doing. So at some point she decided that NOW was a good time to change lanes in front of me. Well she misjudged the spacing and the LR of her car contacted the RF of the Suburban. When this happened I expected her to react and move back right but no. She continued to move left and of course as a pick will do she then lost control. I didn't slam on my brakes as I kept thinking of the lumber on the trailer and I didn't like the idea of it coming forward into the back of the "burban". Welll she goes sailing off to the left and hits another two cars. The bad thing for me was that the driver of one of the cars she hits loses control and ends up right in front of me and does a full on panic brake stop.

I can't stop in time and punt him back left as I did try to move right as much as I could. He hits no other cars but ends up hitting the wall that bordered the lift side of the highway.

The cop that investigated the accident talked to all the other drivers and couldn't get a story that explained what happened. Once I told him what I just wrote above he said that in now made sense. He pined the blame totally on the women who hit me first.

The avoidance factor is probably what I miss most about DD'ing a rusty old F-150. That and the proper bench seat.

In reply to jimbbski:

That's not a proper pit as you never turned into them as they cut across and made contact with you, if you had the steering force, would've offset the force of the impact to the opposite direction and combined with your forward momentum would've kept you going nice and straight and sent them into a death spiral

I did continue straight. I hardly felt the first hit really, I was driving a 2500 series "burban" and got hit by some subcompact car that couldn't have weighted more then 2500 lbs. Hell even when I hit the other car that slid in front of me the impact was more like a bump to myself and passengers but I totaled that car if it wasn't already from the first hit it took from the ladies car!

An intentional pick would be me steering into her but she picked herself by not steering back right after she hit me while moving left.

I think the same thing happened to another women I ended up hitting with my Mustang a few years later. Again I was driving through Chicago this time in the far left lane. Either she picked herself or someone did it to her as she comes out of no where and end up sliding in front of me going 90 deg. to the direction of travel. She's broadside to me and it was like one moment everything is cool and the next moment it's "Holy E36 M3". Again I was lucky as the speed were only 30-35 mph and I have some room to slow down before I hit her. I also got hit by the car behind me and he was hit by the car behind him. There was also 2 other cars involved but they were part of the accident that caused the women I hit to end where she did. All cars were drive able afterwards so none of the impacts were hard.
