funny.. but fake..
Don't try it in Hanahan, SC. They will write you up and you will spend many dollars fighting it. Even if you were only going three houses down to mow an old man's yard.
i have been wondering why in the years i have been reading the since since around 2002 or so the zine has not done anything on lawn moner racing?
you can not get more grassroots then this though......
There was a "Mowserati" in a GRM once in the "Stuck On You" section, IIRC.
still looking around for various parts...im hoping ill find one soon
The reason I suggested snowmobile engine is both that and the original lawn mower engine use centrifugal clutches. Well, at least the ones I've fiddled with. Aline the belts and bolt that mother in.

yes, there was, but it was just for mowing the grass, but not for racing though...
I have been shopping for a rear-engine one for a similar evil purpose.
Dad and I had plans to put an old Crosley motor and trans in a Bolens 1050 mower frame.
Had it all planned and then got sidetracked.
We still have the motor and trans... Hmmm.
Along with the uslmra (link above) there are other lawn mower racing organizations and even local chapters all over North America. The UK has a similar organization.
Here's another US group :
~American Racing Mower Association~

We've been thinking about putting the 2 stroke 3cyl from the Wartburg in a golf cart, maybe a mower would be good...hmmmm
oh yes Dave please do some how to articles on this. Maybe we could rallycross them in a back yard on a super twisty track
