Very sad by far one of the best concerts I have been too. RIP
Maaan...Superunknown is one of those "If you could only take 5 albums to a deserted island..." answers. The Day I Tried to Live, Fell on Black Days, and Like Suicide are some of my favorites of all time. And the video for Black Hole Sun was far ahead of its time. Cornell was in a league of his own - both vocally and as a songwriter. What a tragedy. Like so many have said previously - Soundgarden was THE soundtrack to my early teens. I was in junior high when that album dropped, and it seemed to always be on whenever anything memorable happened in that period of my life. So many feels...
Thanks for the music Chris!
Outshined was a good song to be blaring with windows down this morning pulling into work. Local station played a version of Ava Marie by Chris and instant goosebumps.
Rusty Cage reminds me of Road Rash for 3DO.
Interesting analysis of Say Hello 2 Heaven:

mENTAL ILLNESS IS REAL alot of people miss signs ,,, alot of questions ,,,regret and heartbreak left behind . Alice Cooper - Hey Stoopid
I love Sound Garden. I think I love Audio Slave even more. Shadow on the Sun is one of my favorite songs. I just read the lyrics for the first time...
He was troubled for sure. I have been around him for a short time, 6 years.
I first met him when I was working at the chopper shop. He had just come off a tour and had a bike at the shop. I didnt have any idea who he was or the significance of the bike I was working on. The owner of the shop told me his name a few times but I was indifferent.
This was the bike I was working on
I guess it was a gift from the label for when Bad Motorfinger did well in sales.
A week after leaving the shop we met again when he came to the studio and he and Dave were talking bikes and he introduced us. Dave called me his Car guy, Chris laughed and said I was already his Bike guy. Before he left that day he lined me up to work on his Chevelle and Exile bike.
He had some cool E36 M3 vehicle wise. the two choppers, A triumph Speed Triple his wife had bought him, A Voxall his inlaws gave him. a 1976 Lemans Sport Coupe he bought new, a 66 Chevelle, An all original 356 Porsche but the coolest was a original Porsche 550 Spyder that was painted to match the Lil Bastard. He drove the E36 M3 out of that one and had a replica made of it once the engine in the original started puffing oil.
His Brother Peter is also a musician. Peter kept him on the payroll as long as he kept off the drugs. He was the psudo vehicle wrangler and kept the pets in line.
Chris had a American Eskimo puppy dropped off one day as a surprise for the kids, Peter felt it was a little much for his experience so I was on call for questions and helped him out with it.
When I was unemployed the 3 of us went on a few rides, I drug them around the canyons and up the crest. I could tell there was a hole in him that he couldnt fill, I think back and see it like the same as people like Robin Williams, I hope the demons that plagued him subside and his family gets through this with dignity.
This was a fun night.

Here's a photo from last month's performance. I forget that I posted this to FB. They headlined Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville, Florida.
The whole set was just perfect. Yes, they played all the songs that you know. They played something off King Animal. (I love that album, by the way.)
The jumbo-trons were in black and white, giving the performance a classic, timeless feel. He made the entire field feel small--like he had all of us over for a personal performance.
He will be missed.
In reply to MulletTruck:
Once again, it's great to hear about the humility of these amazing artists from you, when most of us can only guess and infer from a distance. Thank you.
One thing that I wonder about his death is why now, mid-tour? It makes me think he felt like he wasn't living up to the expectations of the fans and/or his bandmates.
Pete, I dont think it was ever a question of weather or not he was meeting the expectations of his fans, He knew the fans were happy and there for him.
On the outside he had a pretty good life. Lots of people who cared for him, A beautiful family, financially doing pretty well. but there was always something hounding him. People felt it but most just brushed it off as being a moody artist. I was not around him too much to have a real impact other than keeping his stuff running and the occasional ride/drive with him. He was always quiet.
The show last night was strange. I had friends there and they said it was good show but felt like it was going to rain in the theater, and with his choice for the last song and the sad FB entry after the show it had everyone thinking.
I dont know why he chose Detroit as the last stand, We talked about it years ago when he heard I lived there back in the day.
Just a sad day.
