Strangely enough I saw him for the first and only time last summer at the Newport Folk Fest. Old as dirt, but he made it on and off the stage under his own power. His fingers didn't seem to be affected by age at all - that picking was incredible.
I wouldn't be too sad. The guy had a great life.
The band has a gig tomorrow night, we're playing Foggy Mountain Breakdown in his honor. And then drinking a shot of whiskey.
Incredible musician. No one will ever sound like that again.
