Everything about the movie was better than the TV show.
RIP, Ms. Kellerman.

Read the book, too. Despite immense popularity and long running length, the TV show is far and away the weakest of the three. Especially after the first season or two.

I did read the book but it was a long time ago. I might have to read it again.
We did the stage production in high school. I was General Hardington (sic)? The guy who commands the other football team. I was horrible. Better left to back stage work!
I always watch the movie when it's on. TV wise, I just never could get around Alan Alda, although the first couple of years were ok.
The book was great, because it really helped to understand the movie.

Different actress on the show.

Yeah, the first season or two had MacLean Stevenson and Wayne Rogers to buffer Alda's ego a little. But after they left I couldn't take his condescending delivery any more.

Loretta Swit is still very much alive. Sally Kellerman is the one who died. As several folks have pointed out.
I must admit I haven't seen the MASH movie, either. It's on my list of shame. I mostly know Sally as Rodney Dangerfield's love interest on "Back to School".
