Never seen that clip before. Good stuff. Never knew the name of any of the band.

Thanks for sharing.

My old guy comment: that is just the drum solo, pulled out of the middle of the song.

I got a glimpse into my father's background when a friend discovered the In A Gadda Da Vida drum solo. We were listening to it in my room when my dad - a total square - walked by and said "hey, that's Iron Butterfly. I have the album!".

And now I know what I'll be listening to this afternoon. I don't have it on vinyl, CD will have to do...

According to Wiki: "Though it was not recorded until their second album, 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida' was written during Iron Butterfly's early days. According to drummer Ron Bushy, organist-vocalist Doug Ingle wrote the song one evening while drinking an entire gallon of Red Mountain wine. When the inebriated Ingle then played the song for Bushy, who wrote down the lyrics for him, he was slurring his words so badly that what was supposed to be 'in the Garden of Eden' was interpreted by Bushy as 'In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida'."
