Sad news. I saw him last year at Cooters in gatlinburg and he didn't look the best then. But he gave me one if those Roscoe laughs and signed my poster. Good guy.

After DOH, he "retired" to Lake Murray, SC and lived fairly close to my in-laws lake house. They ran into him several times and he was always very gracious to them.

He should have trademarked that laugh (assuming he didn't).

Yeah, :(

A true pro, though:

“I learned more about acting in front of a camera from Jimmie Best in an afternoon than from anyone else in a year,” John Schneider, who played Bo Duke, in a statement. “When asked to cry on camera, he would say, ‘Sure thing – which eye?’

Bad enough he died, but he was 88. Don't like what that means about my age...

How can you not see this and hear "Coo coo coo" of Roscoe's laugh at the end of every Duke's?

Try it!

While I never met him, his wife taught modern dance at one of the schools I attended. His daughters attended the school one and two grades ahead of me, as well. All beautiful and sweet people.

I hadn't known he was a Tail-End Charlie on a Fort' in WWII.

And was an MP in Germany after the war. Now want to see "Verboten", from 1959 about occupation forces v. Neo-nazis in which he starred.

berkeleyed up, thinking about when he was in Carlisle for Chrysler show, which has the highest % nazi tattoo demogragraphic I've ever witnessed, that he shook the ss inked arms attached to the eating-after-#2-ing, non-hand-washing goobers' hands and said his catch phrase.

I'm with him, Jake & Elwood and Indy.

Anyway, heres to James Best.

And Flash, may they nap behind a billboard while the Duke Boys' are up on blocks waiting for their Italian Mopar parts.

That was my favorite show when I was a kid. I still enjoy watching it on occasion.

Everyone knows him as Roscoe, but he's been in a boatload of movies and tv shows, sharing the big screen with some pretty impressive people. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0078940/
