Sad news. I saw him last year at Cooters in gatlinburg and he didn't look the best then. But he gave me one if those Roscoe laughs and signed my poster. Good guy.
After DOH, he "retired" to Lake Murray, SC and lived fairly close to my in-laws lake house. They ran into him several times and he was always very gracious to them.
He should have trademarked that laugh (assuming he didn't).

While I never met him, his wife taught modern dance at one of the schools I attended. His daughters attended the school one and two grades ahead of me, as well. All beautiful and sweet people.
I hadn't known he was a Tail-End Charlie on a Fort' in WWII.
And was an MP in Germany after the war. Now want to see "Verboten", from 1959 about occupation forces v. Neo-nazis in which he starred.
berkeleyed up, thinking about when he was in Carlisle for Chrysler show, which has the highest % nazi tattoo demogragraphic I've ever witnessed, that he shook the ss inked arms attached to the eating-after-#2-ing, non-hand-washing goobers' hands and said his catch phrase.
