Is there a good app that shows road conditions? With my traveling and the weather this time of year, I would like to have something to check before I hit bad weather. All the good paying jobs are Northwest and it seems like they have been getting pounded with snow lately. A lot of the mountain roads require chains in certain weather and I would like to avoid having to use them.
Check the websites of DOTs for the state's you're heading through.
Iowa has a pretty good "Iowa 511" app that shows winter driving conditions and other closures, etc. Other states may do the same.
CDOT and UDOT (CO and UT) have apps/websites. I'd assume the same to be true for most states.

The problem with some of the websites, is that they are not mobile friendly, that's why I'm looking for an app of some sort.
Most of these websites point to mobile apps that are available.
I also get pretty fair results using "511" as a search term in the app stores.
