Doing a fly/drive this Thursday/Fri/Sat San Francisco to Chicago. Just curious who might be close to the route. I'm up for meeting any GRMers along the way - hopefully for an uneventful trip.

Like Fried Chicken? Rips Chicken in Ladd, Illinois. Just west of Lasalle/Peru, right off of I80. Best stuff in the world.
I'm an hour south of I80 right now, and depending on the job situation, I'll either remain in Normal or move back to Libertyville. If I'm in Normal, there is a chance I'll be up in Lasalle/Peru on Sunday.
But you were probably looking for folks a little farther from home...
I'm about two hours straight south of Omaha Nebraska. Would be happy to provide the beer and home-cooked food if you made the side spur.
We're about 1 1/2h south of Reno, NV but we'll be in Fla from Thursday to Sunday. However if you want to cover the worst case scenario of having to stash a car temporarily in case of a breakdown PM me for my address.
I'm at starting point of your trip right next to SFO. Chances are I'll be at work in the South Bay during the day on Thursday but I'll PM you my phone number in case something comes up.
Omaha, NE here. Feel free to stop by! I think there's anothrr GRMer in Omaha and one in Lincoln, too.
I live just a stones throw away from I-80. If your interested is stopping all you have to do is just take the exit ramp to the oasis on I-80 in South Holland, IL. You don't even have to get off the highway as the oasis in on a sort of bridge over the road. It's the one small section of I-80 in Illinois thats a toll road. You will pay around $0.75- 0.80. I have a transponder that pays the toll so I don't know what that section costs.
Made it back - 2200 miles. Car is mechanically good, a little scruffy - seems I have a thing for scruffy P-cars. Great to meet up with Osterkraut - thanks again for lunch and hanging out.
Overall drives awesome, but having a voltage drop - suspecting a failing alternator. Had a couple of no start episodes. Once at an overnight stop - started next morning. Another at a gas station - jumped and good to go (and turned off all accessories). Bought some jumper cables to prevent it from happening again - it worked. Although the voltage drop hit again by the time I got home - wouldn't start after I unpacked. I think it's name will be Fritz.
