Cargo space and 4wd:
Factory 5spd van.... All it is lacking is an AWD conversion.
The answer is always Miata.
Plus, most of the pictures of Santa's sleigh show a two seater with no roof and 8-9hp. 
He'd have a whole collection of cars.
He'd have a VW Dasher, a Ferrari, a VW Fox, a Mercury Comet, a Ford Thunderbird and a Lightning.
Plus two more.
The obvious choice would be speed and cargo capacity with a proven track record in the white stuff.

I saw Santa Claus at Menards. He was driving Harley Davidson and had sleigh bells on his saddle bags. It was fun and everyone in the parking lot was laughing/smiling as he drove away. Great Fun!
Well, back in the early 90's, Santa spent his off time around the Bayside area of Virginia Beach. At the shopping center around the corner from my house we often saw a very Santa looking gentleman, always in red, with a sporty red convertible and a red pick up.
I have it from multiple reputable sources that Santa (when he isn't working) drives a M-B S65 AMG.
I keep reading it as Satan's ideal car...

Watching "The Santa Clause" this morning.
He at least drove a Taurus SHO prior to becoming Santa.
