My buddy is up there right now racing. I'll have to watch since I'm off this week. I wish I was up there. Maybe one year us Chicagoland guys could meet up there.
GT3, I found it, the PDF wasn't working on the SCCA website. They are grouped with STU/STL (which is nobody in GT3 is happy about). They don't qualify until Saturday and their race is on Sunday.
Also, I was worried, because GT3 was threatened to be stopped this year due to low participation.
Here's the schedule, PDF style: http://scca.cdn.racersites.com/prod/assets/2012_Schedule_for_print_revised_8.27.12.pdf
The racing starts Thursday at 9:25am CST; five races today and Friday, six each day for the weekend. All the events are usually available for viewing a week or so later.

Carl Heideman and I will be up there from Friday- Sunday. Stop by the GRM booth for go-fast stickers, and bench racing!
Of course you can also subscribe /renew and get a snazzy new GRM shirt!
Come on down to the $2012 Challenge! Georgia is pretty close to Gainsville. We will have extra special snazzy Challenge shirts available!
Not this weekend, but next!
I just started watching the SSB/SSC race and there has already been contact only yards after the green flag waved. WTF? A mid-pack SSB Mustang got tagged and turned around on the straight and he hit driver's right into the pit wall; the perpetrator was none the worse for wear.
SSC never even got a green flag because the FCY was flying before the group even got to T14.
If anyone is driving up from/through the Milwaukee area, may I suggest the Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive.

We took the Miata on this this scenic drive and were delighted. According to reports the leaves are starting to change in that area: http://www.travelwisconsin.com/fall-color-report That would make the drive even better since about half of the drive is like the picture.
Whoa! Through the kink there.
Damn safety truck was in the MIDDLE of the track on the last lap telling cars to slow down. SCCA FAIL.

I'm thinking some Race Stewards are chewing on some butts during the lunch break.
Yeah, someone screwed up. Just because the checkered is called on the radio doesn't mean people are not still under green. I know we don't send out a safety vehicle for after race pickup until the last car is called in as taking the checkered and cars are actually starting to come down pit road. And we don't do hot pulls in races, only under full course. The flagger station there wasn't even double yellow.
As much as the dude from the safety truck looked like a jackass blocking the track and yelling at people to slow down while there is only a local yellow, it is really race control that screwed that up. They shouldn't have dispatched the truck until timing and scoring or the start/finish had radioed the last car taking the checkered.
That was one hell of a few first laps, dropping 2 in almost every corner. Shame that dude appeared to snap the panhard bar.
That yellow 74 was starting to irritate me with his blocking. Defensive line is one thing, he was doing another. The 17 was coming off of Canada Corner great but all of that swerving was screwing himself.
Bumped to alert everyone that SRF (Spec Racer - Ford) is about to start.
There are over 40 cars in the field. Based on past performances, this should a heck of a race with impressive drafting, daring passes under braking and contact - lots of contact, like FCY contact.
You'll need to log in to post.
