I raise a glass to all of you that have made it through another year of school, either as a student or a parent. Time for a bit of time off.

Not that time yet for us, we've still another two weeks to go up here in VA. The kids are so done - the freedom is so close they can nearly taste it...
Ours have a 1/2 day today and they are done. They were just a little hard to get moving this morning.
I just want to say, I'm looking forward to the next 3 months of not having to deal with those giant rolling orange roadblocks clogging up my morning commute.
My kids are in school til the 14th hahaha Not sure about other states, but MI doesn't start until after labor day and we have to build in "snow days"
Van wert schools let out 2 weeks ago. If anything im busier now then during the school year. Yay for youth baseball.
The kids are certainly happy about it, but from my perspective we've entered the annual two and a half months of "now I can't work from home".

Oh crap. My only available office is at home.
I never thought about it...
My dad retired (not in education) about 15 days ago. My mom still had a year left to go as an Elementary school nurse. Then they looked at her pension increase and what the extra year would get them, and decided... Nah. Tomorrow is her last day and she's done!
Except she will still be a substitute. But she's happy, Dad's happy, and I'm happy for them!
Kids last day of school was last Friday. Wife's last day of work was yesterday.
Kids are doing various sports training camps. I get to work from home twice per week now, so that'll be nice to be able to have lunch with them.
We leave for a super long trip to Disney World at the end of the month. I know most of you wouldn't enjoy it, but I can't wait!
And to the teachers! A huge thanks. Not just for taking care of our kids, but for dealing with us parents and the administration. Take a break.
My wife has been teaching for 15 years. 9 days until she is out. Itll be nice to have her less stressed.

is this some kinda of Benjamin Button retirement plan for teachers? you work your way backwards through the school system?
And one year closer to getting these vermin....err lovely children.... out of my house!
I love them and all but teenagers have a way of trying ones patience.

Do you recall what it's like having toddlers? Come over some time for a refresher.
They don't call them "three-nagers" for nothing.

No, more just a product of supply and demand. Also, someone is retiring who is a 2nd grade teacher and that opens an opportunity.
Kids done with 3rd grade. All A's except a B in math. So happy that the report cards they send home from school have no bearing at all on his grades. It's really a goofy system down here.
