Looking to get a few more SDHC cards for my new DSLR camera. I already have a couple things in my arsenal of electronics that use MicroSD; e.g. my phone, a couple mini video cameras, etc, so it would be nice to have them all be able to use the same cards.

Is there any inherent problem with buying MicroSDs for my camera and putting them in the camera with an SD adapter? Quality? Speed? Extra connections cause for concern?

I've used micro SD cards with an adapter in my DSLR with no issues.

As long as you pay attention to the Class rating of the card, you should be fine.

And I'd recommend buying a card holder. Those little cards are very easy to lose.

Well, you can use a MicroSD card in anything that takes an SD card (with adapter) or a MicroSD card.

You can use an SD card in only half of those things :).

I use the microcards as well. No issues with adapters.

Just get quality cards. Helps with burst mode

The adapter is strictly a mechanical device, there's no downside to using them. In fact using MicroSDs with adapters means the cards will be compatible with more devices.

I was researching SD cards too recently and I thought this link gave a good run down on the class/speed situation.
