Security cameras for shop...again

Lost the old thread :/

On top of all the wind/rain/power outtages, some c-smoker threw a rock through a window at the shop this weekend.

Instead of telling you what I *think* I want, I'll just ask for your opinions on something that doesn't cost a godzillion dollars.

How much do you want to spend?

I like Axis cameras in my offices.   4K video,  can watch any of them from my smart phone.

Prices...roughly $300-500 each camera for a mini-dome with very low light capabilities.

Records to either an internal microSD card or NAS of your choosing (onsite or off)

Nice! Can they be mounted outdoors? I'm mainy interested in catching vandals. I have a feeling I know who did this.

Also, I'm mildly technologically "challenged." Will it record wirelessly to a hard-drive?

I always think about cameras, then I think about the impotent rage that would consume me watching the video and knowing I have no real recourse in most cases.

Any advantage to something like the Apex over a Nest Outdoor camera?

I'd think you'd want it sent to a cloud in case someone broke in and trashed the computer it was going to.

I know of a security system, I'd have to ask again which specific cameras, that send an alert to your phone.

A friend of my boss, she started yelling at the guy through the intercom why he was trying to kick in her door. The video was clear enough to identify the suspect, arrest him, and the video helped with the conviction.

We've had at least one arrest based on our camera footage. 

I just replace the camera system at the house with this one. Swann Camera System. It was reasonably easy to install since it used all the existing wiring. The newer cameras are also HD. 

I'm in for the knowledge.  I have a feeling this info will be handy in my future.

There are weather/vandel resistant enclosures available in the $50 range.

zmodo wireless indoor/outdoor security cams

wireless is generally going to be flaky at best when looking at that price point. is running wires to the locations above the entrances/windows going to be an issue?
