Stamford, Conn. (Stamford Advocate) - A 29-year-old Stamford man is recovering at Stamford Hospital after being slashed in the neck and face following an Alive@Five performance by MC Hammer at Columbus Park Thursday night.
The victim was rushed to Stamford Hospital after suffering a gash to his carotid artery and the left side of his face, said Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin.
Early Friday morning the hospital reported that the man's wounds were no longer life threatening, Conklin said.
Conklin said the assault was reported to police at 9:19 p.m. Although the assault occurred as the man was walking in an alley running behind the Bell Street Parking Garage, he was carried behind Bobby Valentine's sports restaurant where workers brought out towels to help stem significant bleeding from the man's neck, Conklin said.
Police officers applied pressure to the wound until medics arrived and continued to work on the man before rushing him to the hospital, Conklin said.
Despite those efforts, the man's artery was hemorrhaging in spurts and he lost an extreme amount of blood, Conklin said.
Police found some PCP in the victim's possession, Conklin said.
While the attack occurred about a block away from the Alive@Five stage, Conklin said he did not know if the victim or his attacker were attending the concert
I didn't read your post yet. I'm just shocked by something - MC Hammer still does concerts?

I believe it was bankruptcy, not jeebus.
The part about this article that makes me laugh is the fact they make an effort to talk about MC Hammer's concert, when the police stated that they were not sure he or the assailant were from the concert at all!
MC Hammer will get you to read it apparently?

The pants need to make a comeback, but I'm not so sure the hammer does.
They shouldn't have let this guy in:
"I need to stab someone! Where's my stabbing knife?!"

what a stupid article. Says it happened that 5alive concert.. but at the end states that it happened a block away and they cannot tell if the victem had attended the concert or not?
Maybe the victim was wearing geenie pants, so the police made the asumption. I know I would!
in that case.. I wouldn't want to touch this
