We've had snappers laying eggs in the yard for as long as I can remember. The babies are very cute, but belligerent, surly adulthood isn't far behind.
I just relocated a painted turtle from the driveway to the backyard. Judging by the mud on the back of her shell, she's laid eggs somewhere in the yard as well.
Snappers make good turtle soup, top of the food chain .

I do love me some snapper soup. Those 115 yr old tanks are probably past prime for that sort of honorable exit though.
