Ok, this last Saturday I woke up to take a wee in the wee hours of the morning (I used “wee” twice in the same sentence. That’s gotta be a record). Anyway, when I got out of bed I felt fairly dizzy. I wasn’t alarmed since I had been laying down for 4-5 hours and just sat up. Anyway, a few hours later I get up for the day, feeling quite dizzy but I got stuff to do, no time to feel dizzy. My wife notices that I’m tipsy and I downplay it (since she’ll be gone for a good part of the day and I’ll be in the garage alone under a car, she worries). So, I’m in the garage, on a creeper and anytime I turn my head more than just a little, like 100 degrees or more, I get wicked dizzy spells. Like I had just been spinning as fast as I could for 30 seconds. I can feel my eyes rolling up and down, the whole shooting match. I gotta lay there and let it pass. This continues all weekend. Not dizzy 24/7, but just about any time I get up, sit down, or breath quick-ish I would get seriously dizzy. I fell off my creeper once, and I was sitting down! Anyway, it’s now Thursday and it’s quite a bit better, but I still get these dizzy feelings a few times a day and almost always have a feeling of minor dizziness.
I don’t want to spend the time and money going to the doc for him/her to say “get more rest, eat right, stop doing meth, and pay the lady on your way out” or some such crap, but I’d rather not die either.
This being America, anyone responding to this post will be subject to a HUGE lawsuit in the event you say I’m ok and I die, or if you say I should go to the doc and he/she says I’m fine. In fact, if you read this post and don’t respond you are subject to said lawsuits in either case since you failed to offer assistance.

Go see the doc.

Your head (a relatively important component of the "you" mechanism) is doing funny stuff. It might be minor, and it might not.

There's some value in finding out that it's minor, and incalculable value in getting on top of it if it's not.

My two cents, which coincidentally is the cap on my liability for your outcome

Wow. A lawsuit no matter which way I go. That's the good ol' US of A for ya.

I'm no doc (there's my disclaimer!) but it sounds like vertigo to me and I have had similar problems when I get ear infections, your inner ear is what helps you control balance and dizziness. It's possible to have an ear infection and it does not hurt. Might want to get it checked out.

Go to the doc.

This just happened to me a week ago (literally the exact same symptoms).

They sucked my blood to check for diabetes, hypoglycemia, and anemia. Not stuff you want to berkeley around with.

It was reassuring to know that I was OK, even if the symptoms didn't go away right away.

Go see your Doc. Explain exactly what you just said here. If He/She is even half competent they will at least do a few tests before they send you on you'd way. If He/She is not competent find a better one ASAP. It could be something as simple as an ear infection that's already passing or something much more complex. FWIW I get lots of ear infections and never feel any pain in my ears, but I've only had dizziness once.

My cousin recently almost died from a brain virus. Encephalitis, maybe, I forget exactly. Anyway, they think it was likely waterborne, and according to the Doctors, it was quite the miracle that he pulled through without permanent brain damage, such was the severity of his condition.

Prior to collapsing and his trip to the ER, he had vision problems, sore eyes and dizziness.

Get it checked out just in case.

The rule of thumb I live by when it comes to doctors and the ER is - If you ask the question of sould I or sould I not, the answer is always SHOULD. Dizziness can be a sign of bad stuff going on.

Have you been drinking antifreeze again? (sorry, couldn't resist)

Seriously, I agree with nickel_dime - if you have to ask the question, then the answer is 'yes'.

Go get checked out so we can tease you some more...

Dizzyness (Vertigo) can often be a symptom of an inner-ear problem such as an infection. Especially if it coincides with movement. I would recommend seeing your doctor immediately.

The other option is to ignore it and hope it resolves itself. I took that path, and have had two major surgeries on my ear (Google Tympanoplasty and Mastoidectomy for all the gory details) as a result. I have limited hearing in the left ear, can't scuba dive, deal with constant pain and infections, have to see the doctor twice a year and struggle with Vertigo. Again, I would recommend seeing your doctor immediately.

The same thing is going on with me right now. Glad I just called my Dr. even though it was for another problem.

Let us know what you find out.

Another vote for vertigo. I get it periodically, especially if I've been out in a cold wind for too long, and the symptoms are pretty much exactly as your described. There are meds available for it, but they are almost as bad as the vertigo itself. But there are other possibilities, both more and less serious. That's why you should go to the doctor.

I'm always surprised people ask serious questions on a board who's standard answers are 1. Blow it up. 2. Make it go faster. and 3. Miata.

We did this a few months ago.

Make doctor's appointment. Google "Epley maneuver" and try it. Keep appointment even if maneuver works.

You can go to the grocery store/drug store and play with their heart monitor to admire your blood pressure and pulse.

Dramamine is usefull for shutting up ones ears when they get into an argument over which direction up is.

Gatoraide or similar is great stuff for when you've dehydrated yourself dizzy. How much have you been drinking? How often are you having to pee?

10 cups of coffee can make just about anyones head spin. How much caffeene have you had?

Big dinner at the chinese buffet where you maximized intake of salt and MSG?

Probably not enough Glycol in ur die-yet

I had a mild case of Dehydration last summer when building my deck. Pee was orange, kinda stopped sweating, diarrhea, vomiting - for about 3 days...bad stuff - 'specially considering I have kidney issues (Im an idiot and need to pay closer attention to my renal functions...but I digress). Had some dizziness for about a week. Thought it was just the dehydration...luckily the Mrs made me see the doc.

My dehydration effed up my body's immune response and I caught a nasty bug in the ear canal. It actually caused a bit of damage, luckily though, a few pills were all I needed to knock it out, and the slight hearing loss that resulted shouldnt be permanent. DOc said though that if I hadnt come in, that another day or so might have had me going all miracle-ear on your ass.

GO! see the doc...an hour of time and a $25 CO-PAY are small potatoes compared to long lasting effects of an infection. The permanent effects of being dead really conflict with the autox season, and youll probably never get laid again either...probably (Clerks anyone? ANYONE?...Bueller?...)

I'll go see the doc. I know I don't drink enough water. I typically will have a 16 oz. glass with dinner, but sad to say, that's about it. Saturday I went to the supermarket to do the blood-pressure thing. It was high, like 149 high. Is that dead yet?
4cylnder, I think you are on to somethign. I know I don't drink enough water and, just after posting this (ironically) I started having some ear pain. I'll make at appt. tomorrow.

Some people have this issue. It's brain cancer.

I vote for running it by the doc.
