Funny you ask that. He's not, just the header flame blocking the view. However back in 2005 at the U.S. Nationals, Tony Pedregon was attempting to do a burnout in his Funny Car. There was some body to throttle linkage contact preventing him from revving the engine. He had stopped on the start line and his crew chief started to trouble shoot the situation. He motioned to one of the crew guys to lift the body, guess what happened next... the car lurched forward. The guy lifting the body bounced off the front of the car, off to the side, contorting past the headers. The crew chief was still standing next to the car. When the car lurched forward, the header blast blew the inseam apart on his pants (but they didn't come off because he was wearing a belt). The blast then sent him airborne two or three feet and gave (according to him) second and third degree burns on his legs. Everybody survived, but it was scary looking when it happened. If I was capable, I would have just linked the youtube vid, instead of this long winded post.
