Ever have the motivation to do a million things but the body isn't willing? That's what I'm experiencing right now. I'm jones'ing to work on my 1uz swap, but I have the worst freaking cold! What to do?
What do you guys do when your home bound? It's snow and ice outside. The garage is a balmy 26°... I've watched all my fave shows. I'm bored as heck. Any show suggestions? I've watched every roadkill episode, engine masters, and hotrod garage. Same with MCM and unicorn circuit. I haven't watched any new top gear, but also cancelled cable tv last month. Just have Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon. I'll watch the latest Grand Tour tonight with the wife.

Sorry to hear you are dragging butt with a cold. I'm waiting to catch the second season of Man in the High Castle on Amazon. We also started a new Netflix series Sense8 if you are into Sci Fi at all.
On a separate note I've been investigating how cheap buying stuff internationally Is right now with the crazy strong dollar. The rest of the worlds currencies are more or less on sale currently... Check eBay or Demon Tweeks to empty your wallet

I'm just coming to an end of a similar 2 week stint off work due to surgery. I couldn't work due to risk of infection and such, had to rest my dominant hand and not get it wet it dirty. You know what I use my dominant hand for? everything.. I couldn't work on anything in the garage, I couldn't play video games, my typing was slow because of 1 off hand, can't fold laundry one handed (I actually don't mind doing laundry, I just couldn't).
I read some books. Lots of books. I now know something about how steam engines work and how they are engineered (as much as you can learn in 2 weeks, certainly not ready to make one). I took a self guided refresher course in plumbing, a bit of electricity, lots on metal casting, etc... You don't have to move your head when sick, just stare at something. When I'm sick, I don't like sounds, so books win because they are silent.
From this thread.
Recommendation of The Wire if you want a great cop drama that is thought invoking and requires your attention.
Californication if you want thoughtless, sophomoric adult humor.

First thing that came to mind, but I wasn't going there.
Stranger things on Netflix will take up 8 hours of your day in spectacular fashion. The first episode is kind of "jump scary", which I'm not normally a fan of, but it's an incredibly well put together show. When I got a bad fever a few weeks back I binged that between naps.
I've enjoyed watching OneLapHeroes on YouTube. It's not so much a show, just some guys documenting work and life at the Nurburgring.

You guys need help. I'm laid up with a cold as well and that's about the last thing I'm thinking about.

No wife, no kids and scotch in the garage. Something in there has to appeal.
Bbc has a decent documentary about the deadly years in rally that was pretty good.
Cars of the people was better than expected.
I'm getting ready to start boardwalk empire now that I've finished the wire..
Road if you haven't seen it is good.

This.
Playing dirt rally right now. Fun. Hard to race when under the influence of NyQuil. It's a challenge.
And marathon self abuse.... I LOL'd quite a bit. I got a wife. No need to watch golf when I can play it for real.

Engineering the World Rally
6-episode series, about 45 minutes per episode, about the Subaru WRT in 2006. Fascinating from an engineering perspective. They had a LOT of problems that year and this is the behind the scenes story.
I strongly recall the "We have a problem. A BIG one" Petter quote from one of the rallies, in this series we find out why. Looks like the whole damn season was putting out one fire after another.
Also interesting to see the intra-team political maneuverings.
Alternate between responses #2 and #3.

When I was laid up with my knee a couple years ago I found several '80s Dakar rallys are on YouTube

Was going to suggest this as well. Unbelievably good!
My last stretch of couch time came after eye surgery. No exertion, no bending over, sit, boy, sit. Once the patch was off, that eye was out of focust. Anything with much light or eye movement (like reading and most screen-watching) was out. No fun at all.
