I will be installing some vinyl siding for my sister in law, and there is one weird part I need advice on. There are short walls sticking out
that i dont know what to do with the front edge. The trim pieces on there will coming off, so it will be 5" thick (3.5 for the studs plus 1.5 for the wood paneling). If i put two outside corner trim pieces there it would leave a tiny little strip of siding between that would look dumb and be difficult to install. The siding and trim is going to be a custom color so putting aluminum or a pvc board on the end isnt going to match. What should i do with this? Thanks
I have stumped the hive. Do i get, like, a keychain or something?
I think im just going to remove the little pointless walls. I think it will look better without them.

I would do that personally or you can do the weird little pieces inside.
Or even color match the siding with some paint and just paint the trim. It could look decent
I would vote for eliminating them. What are the holes up near the gutter?
Why can’t you wrap the current trim in aluminum? You say you can’t since it’s a custom color, but what are you doing for trim around the garage door? You could match that trim. It could become a design element. Does your sisters-in-law care if you keep them or take them down?

Woodpecker damage. There is a bunch of it. Thats why the house is getting siding.
Cover it with a piece of PVC trim board and side up to the edge of the trim board.
I talked to the SIL, she agrees with the idea of removing the walls. The house has a lot of "mid-80's modern" architecture, and removing some of these, um, styling features should improve the look of the house.
Are you replacing/covering the vertical slats on there now with vertical or horizontal siding?
In reply to 914Driver :
What you see on there now is is wood panel siding. I will be covering it with horizontal vinyl siding.
