Just came here to post that. Was never a big fan of him as Bond, but he was perfect as the Saint:

So long, Sir.

In reply to Duke:

Agreed. His character in Cannonball Run was a great send up of his cheesy Bond.

It tells of when you came to the 007 movies.

"For Your Eyes Only" was my first Bond film and I always associated Mr. Moore with the classic Secret Agent.

My father used to let me stay up past my bedtime to watch the end of Bond Movies with him, and took me to every new Bond film when it came out. Roger Moore will always be my favorite Bond because of that. Rest In Peace Mr. Moore.

Bond movies were ok, not really my thing, but I always loved Cannon Ball Run. Him playing a character, pretending to be Roger Moore, pretending to be James Bond...

I don't care what anyone else says, to me he was far and away the best one. I'm not a huge movie buff now at all, but liked them more back in the 80s. So to me, when I think 007, I think Roger Moore.

R.I.P.

I'm a huge Bond fan, and Sir Roger was "my" Bond growing up. I remember the ABC Sunday Night Movie had a pretty steady rotation of "Live and Let Die", "The Man with the Golden Gun", "The Spy Who Loved Me", etc. I know his Bond was cheesy, but I loved him for it. Much lighter and more fun than the Craig Bond (which I also love, but for different reasons). Those movies fit their time perfectly.

RIP, Sir Roger. 89 is a good run, but I didn't even know he was sick.

He was part of one of the more entertaining chase scenes ever. Viewing can be enhanced by turning down the sound and repeating "boing, boing, boing" as you watch:

For merrily sending himself up in Cannonball run, all is forgiven.

He was my first Bond experience as well. I just assumed if you were a secret agent you got to be a smart ass, screw around who got laid all the time. Hence why I still want to be a secret agent.

I think that's the best way to sum it up.

No, Mr. Bond, I did not expect you to die.
