I'm not trying to argue (really, just trying to calm the future nightmaressmiley), but the video says Bosstown Dynamics at the bottom, not Boston. That video has an aggressive tone I find surprising from a tech company. I am not claiming its not real, just shocked by dudes playing with live rounds and robots. Plus the last scene where the humanoid grabs the "dog" and runs off, just seems awfully Hollywoodized to me.

Bosstown. Good catch. This one may not be real. Still, if they can dance they can probably fight as well, or at least be intimidating enough to be sold as security guards. And Blomkamp is Blomkamp. Lots of social commentary there from a South African perspective. But put a Boston Dynamics tag on Chappie and you could probably pass him off as one of their products.

Agreed on Blomkamp's excellence, prescience, etc. It's a Brave New World. I hope there aren't Militia types beating on Robots like this, though I suspect there may be. My humanity is very uncomfortable with that level of agression.

That one I linked earlier was a CG parody. In the Boston Dynamics demos from a few years ago they showed off the agility and ability of the robots by pushing them around. That video took the abuse a little further.

Compilation of Boston Dynamics being mean to robots:

Treat your cars better....
