This is weird.

I had Continental Sport Contacts, 175/65R15 on the Scion. The odometer was dead on.

I switched to Pirelli P3000, same size, on the same wheels. Now the odometer is 4.5% low.

Doesn't that seem like a very large variance for the "same size" tire?

Yeah. Huh... That'd be over an inch of diameter if starting with a 25" tire...

And the bigger the tire size the worse the variances are!

I've seen as much as a 2" variance in actual tread width on the same rated size tire.

I've not paid as much attention to diameter only to note that it's hard to find 2 different tires, same size that have the same diameter. It seems they always vary by a little bit.

I never buy tires by rated size anymore I look to see actual dimensions and buy that way. If a tire manufacturer doesn't give you those dimensions I don't buy that brand. (Goodyear is bad about this)
