Ashley and I are following in the footsteps of thousands of nerd couples and going Han and Leia for halloween. Just put the finishing touches on the Han Solo blaster.

And it makes the "pchoo" noise, too.
Oh, and that's authentic Type R exhaust soot on the muzzle.
Nice, now get back to work.......
that is not a historically accurate Han Solo blaster. Purple? Really?
your paint job is much better. let's see the vest.
Han was apparently a closet Gator fan.

I will raise you Han and Leia, and raise you a seven year old Vader and an 11 month old walking Yoda.
ooooohhh a proportionally accurate Yoda...nice
O.T. but nerf did a great job designing this pistol

Heh, we got two of those NERF N-Strikes as wedding presents, they're awesome. And whoever did that is WAY better at detail weathering than I am. The Han gun rattle-can satin black base coat, rattle-can satin brown handle, rattle-can metallic silver barrel and some silver Sharpie for the "weathering" with a quick dusting of black over the silver to give a "used" look to the barrel. I suck at painting
Those look alot like a broomhandle Mauser.

Apparently the original was a broomhandle Mauser with a fire hose nozzle glued on the end and a scope tacked to the side. The "real" replicas go for hundreds of bucks (I saw one for over a grand), so I think $10 for a plastic toy and a few rattle cans was a much more practical solution for a halloween costume. As a Star Wars nerd, however, the fancy ones do make me go oooh, aaah.

For me it's my storm trooper uniform. I'm too tubby for it though, so I have to make due...

Scott, you have lured me into the open.. There are 30+ expanded universe novels within 5 feet of me.
Rock on.
Im going to texas' big RennFaire this year on halloween..Im lazy so i think this year i will just make a t-shirt that says I SERVE THE FLAMING FIST. Its a throwback for rpg and pc gamer fans, but i think someone will get it.

I have a nerf Maverick! It makes me feel like such a badass. I can't find a pic of mine but here is Chuck's. We painted them at the same time.

Like enough, that a cop will shoot his ass, if he isn't careful.
Thanks guys and gals. My youngest saw the Nerf guns and now he wants me to paint his. I have been trying to paint a car white for a year...now I need to learn how to do this?
Halloween is probably the only time of the year that you can walk around with fully-loaded firearms out in the open and everybody (cops included) will just think they're replicas. They might not even think that they're very good replicas.
Great job on the Han Blaster!

I love this. Looks like a weapon from Halo or something.

Han's blaster was a mauser, modified for the movie. The stormtroopers rifles were also based off of Sterling sub machine guns, if i remember right.
