PIITB is always an easy decision.

Which reminds me, tell him that besides abstinence, butt-sex is the only other way to not get a girl pregnant. Then give him $10 if he comes back to you with that news.

Edit- Sorry to go all 12 year old on the internet, the fact is you made it WAAAAY too easy for me.

Be prepared for embarassing questions. Be man enough to answer those questions. Even while blushing and stuttering.

Boys don't talk like girls, neither do men for that matter. Don't try this one sitting across from each other at the table, try going for a drive, so you can both sit side by side and stare out the windshield.

It's not one talk, its a long series of smaller talks. Adding and reinforcing.

Ah... The answer is miata. You should have plenty of time to give him the whole "talk" during a drag race.

The only thing I got from this thread is an overwhelming sense of panic about the fact that I only have 3-5 years to prepare for giving "the talk" to my oldest. NOT ENOUGH TIME! DAMMIT! NOT ENOUGH TIME!

I sincerely sat down with my oldest and explained everything - absolutely everything to him in plain english. It was super easy and I felt very relived. He was 2, so I am pretty sure I'll have to do it again at some point.

In other news, it's getting weird and creepy out there. At the local uppity Christian school there was a rumor that having anal sex meant you were still a virgin, so the thing to do was to meet up with someone in the basement bathroom and skip class. These kids were in the 7th grade. So don't be afraid to explain some of the more weird things to him.

Hea, wait until he gets picked up as a boyfriend by one fast moving little girl in the 4th grade. That made life, um...interesting! To say the least. He was clueless, but she knew exactly what she was doing, and what she wanted.

I chatted with my 3 daughters as each arrived at around 14 years old. More about the life changing results of horny young lads, parties and alcohol, the physical stuff they knew about already. My wife chatted with them about enjoying sex and it's not a taboo. At 16 they freely had the option to go on the pill no questions asked. FWIW - One of the best bits of advice you can give a Teen is one glass of alcohol then one glass of water to match it every time besides simply allowing them to drink sensibly cause they are going to do it anyway.

I never got the talk, well not in any formal manner atleast, i think it was one of those it was creeping up at the dinner table and my brother and I (15 months younger than me) brushed it off with a "yeah yeah we've got the idea already!"

I would be insistent on being smart about it, and not getting tied down to one girl. you only live once!

and like mentioned above, go take a drive or something so you can sit sidebyside, I learned this in my peer tutoring class, it's always more comfortable for the student when you position yourself as a friend, not an enforcer or bigger person (by standing or facing them)

Also, Miata would definitely be a good answer once he turns 16, i know the backseat got me into trouble...
