Somehow missed this thread until now. Mazdeuce, way to go. Whether or not anybody involved recognizes it, you did the Right Thing.

Clearly, it triggered a reaction/flashback to your feelings about your father.

Good for you for doing the right thing.

As for the Beretta in the car door--good luck trying to do that in a state without a gun culture (like RI)

Yep, did the right thing. Years ago, Joe and I were driving somewhere during SEMA week when we saw a guy just clock this lady who was on the phone. Joe and I just looked at each other for a second: Did we just see that?

Joe was driving, so I called 911. By the time the operator finished saying "Las Vegas 911, please state your emergency," there were blue lights flashing. Apparently a police officer saw the whole thing, too.

@mazdeuce The mom getting hurt sucks but it is the kids part of the story that made it a home run for me. Kids should never have to endure this kind of stuff.

You did more than good you are what many strive to be. A Hero. You may have saved those kids lives!!!

If you are ever up this way dinner is on me. Seriously on me!!! The world needs more people like you!!!

Edit:

Something else to think about. What little I know about your personal experience with this stuff I would like to think that it had a lot to do with you making the call. The odds are that if it had been anyone else but you passing by at that time they would have put the blinders on and kept driving. What you went through as a kid sucked and as I said before no child should have to endure it but I am betting that because of your personal experience you knew that this is nothing to take lightly and you stepped up when they absolutely needed it the most. I don't know if the mom or those kids will ever thank you but I will say it. Thanks you!!!!!
