This got me looking at mine and I decided to try grayd00r to see if it will make it functional enough for goofing around.

It's still charging, so I'll wipe it and install tomorrow and report back here what happens. Worst case, it's bricked and just becomes more useless.

Otherwise, if I don't like it, I'll try absinthe and go that route.

Either way, I might try and use it for a family calendar/info center solution with a wall-mount, we'll see.

So, the saga continues. Looks like I have a version of iTunes that will work. Now the version of redsn0w that I'm trying to use to execute the exploit for Cydia install is failing. Maybe I will give grayd00r a shot if Stefan has success.

Updating...I was reading some comments on the video that greyd00r links in their webpage, and it appears that at one time this was an excelent tool, but something must have changed. Lots of (Windows apparently) users are claiming that the tool hangs up and states that extracted files are missing, but re-extracting never fixes the issue.

The search continues...

If red snow isn't working for you, try absinthe.

A quick attempt last night and it ran out of room (judging by what was on the system, lots of "other" data according to iTunes) so I'm going to wipe it and start again.

I'll let you know in a few...

I was reading, and I think I need greenp0ison. I have IOS4.2.1 running on the iPad, and I think Absinthe is for IOS5+? Theres also apparently a website called Jailbreakme.com, where you can JB your device simply by using their website...Im leary of this tho...what could end up in my iPad without my knowledge? I guess its no less secure than using a utility I download.

Let me know how Absinthe works. Also, if it works, can you provide the IOS youre runnnig for comparison?
