That's the best thing about a colonoscopy to me. Only my twilight doesn't last two days. More like 6 hours.

Yup. I was told no driving for 12 hours. I felt normal in less that 4 but I waited until the next day to be on the safe side.

I'm fortunate to have a health care system that covers the cost of the procedure and a good insurance plan through work that covers my wages while I'm off.

Check your insurance. With some carriers, a colonoscopy is part of wellness maintenance (like a check-up) and therefore free. Anesthesia is not necessary wellness and therefore not free. Dental plans are dental plans.

A SCREENING colonoscopy is part of the required zero patient cost health plans under Obama Care. If it is a DIAGNOSTIC colonoscopy, you pay. Anesthesia should be included in the procedure.

Had my surgery yesterday. All went well and I'm short about 18" of intestine now.. The doc is cautiously optimistic that they got it all. I'm recovering and the pain isn't too bad. Morphine is a wonderful drug

If you need any advice regarding recovery, let me know via PMs. Careful with the morphine, it will tend to constipate you. Drink as many fluids as they allow, and get up and moving as much as they'll let you.

Don't do anything crazy for the first 8 weeks post-op or you can run the risk of a hernia.

I disagree about the morphine, unless they just didn't give me enough of it. It locked me up tight. I have no idea how somebody could abuse it.

I had this surgery last May. I suspect my little problem was further along than yours. I have recovered well from the surgery and chemo and am optimistic about my long-term prospects. PM me if you want additional encouragement. There have been a lot of advancements in the treatment of this malady.

Quick update. I've been home for a week and am healing nicely. The thing that's driving me nuts is I finally have both time and money to work on my cars but I'm not allowed to lift, push or pull. This sucks.

They didn't give you enough. I had a nice morphine drizzle going once and they may have been the best two days of my life, not that I really remember them.
