Great job Gamby.
I rode in a smaller charity ride last Saturday that did not require you to raise money. I just had to pay an entry fee and they sold raffle tickets for various prizes. I ended up winning an iPad 2. Kinda made up for when I came to dead stop going up a hill, couldn't get unclipped fast enough, and fell on a curb.
Bike was OK though.

You'll heal--the bike won't
less than two weeks out, you've kicked ass on the fundraising, but how is your training? are you ready?

Haven't checked in with this in awhile.
I think I'm ready. Life has been insanely busy, but I'm squeezing some intense workouts in. Had to do a gnarly indoor workout last weekend because it rained. Looks like it might be sketchy for tomorrow, too.
That said--I'm feeling very good on the bike. I haven't done enough hills, but I've noticed that when I do train on hills, my recovery is very good.
My regular riding partner has been studying for the GRE's, so he's blown a bunch of training off. Odds are very good that I'll be leaving him behind on day 1. I waited for the slowpokes last year--I don't see myself doing that this year.
...and yes--the fundraising has been surreal. I have VIP parking at the Start/Finish because I raised so much.
I gotta give my bike a solid once-over this week to make sure everything is kosher. I also want to find a frame bag somewhere.
three days out. you ready?

In reply to AngryCorvair:
Absolutely. Gotta check my bike over tomorrow. Been carb loading my ass off all week. Did a couple of decent rides over the weekend and I felt great.
Looks like we might encounter a little rain on Saturday, but it won't be anything major. It'll just make part of the day grimier.
So yeah--rarin' to go. Gotta get as psyched up as possible. Up at 5AM on Saturday--that's probably just as much of an obstacle as the ride--lol.
I finally donated to your ride, BTW.

You got the e-mail an hour ago.
Went well. Rode Day 1 hard, bonked .5 from the finish, rougher Day 2 as a result.
Still a great experience. I'm still an achey mess as I sit typing this...
