Printer is a Epson xp-420. It can see the network, but every time I try to run the setup program it fails the network checking. Every time I run the connection check from the printer it fails. When I check the network status from the printer it says good connection to my network.
I can't get it to work. Getting frustrated with it....Please help.

Set it up wired first, then disconnect and network it. Seems to let the computer install the drivers it needs for the printer, which helps the wireless connectivity later.

Does it have a screen & menu on it where you can set up the wireless connection? That's how I usually do it. I recommend setting a fixed IP for it.

Ah, I see this is also capable of working without the network, and using wifi to directly talk to your computer. That might be part of the problem that you're running into. Half of one, half of the other, and getting nowhere as a result.

Wifi setup starts on page 33.

I'd recommend just connecting it to the network and disabling direct wifi printing. Simpler and better for security.

Plug her in first, like trapper said if you haven't already. I had so many issues with my printer (different one) for a while and had to keep doing that. Now she works flawlessly on the network.

Plugged into the usb it works correctly, but she wants to put it on a shelf in the utility room.
