So the week before Tiff and I left for our honeymoon we noticed a big Siamese cat hanging around the street and our yard a bit. Kinda funny considering we live a bit outside of town. By time we got home it seemed to have made itself at home under the back deck. Soon after it was hanging out on the front porch. Normally our other cat runs off every other cat that even comes down the street but for some reason she has let this one hang out.

Anyway it has been a couple weeks now so I guess we have been officially adopted by the cat and Tiff seems to be fine with just letting it stay. For the most part I have just been calling it "Stupid" because well it acts stupid half the time I am outside. I was told we need to come up with an actual name instead of just calling it "Stupid" all the time. Any ideas guys? I may end up letting the thing have access to the shop eventually to help keep mice out of in there.

As a friend of mine says, cats know good people.

Or at least suckers who will feed them .

Siamese are fantastic. I've had them since I was a kid - they're totally devoted pets.

I'd have to see him to get an idea. My cats are named by sight or stupid trait- see CatButt- who likes to put his butt on me or my stuff.

Thanks for that; he's funny!

For cat humor (and the OP's continuing edification), I'm fond of Simon's Cat

Oddly the two Anatolians are putting up with it and are leaving it alone.

I will get a pic of it tomorrow.

to butt in on this thread ... my sister got up one morning a few weeks ago to find a new born kitten on their back porch .. very nearly actually new born ... the vet said it was no more than 4 days old .... eyes closed, ears still flat, claws not yet retracted, etc ... they've been feeding/nurturing it (making sure it doesn't become a single mouthful for the dog LOL ) it made a funny sorta sound about every 5th or 6th breath .. so it's name has become Hiccup ... they have zero idea how it ended up on their back porch ... someone HAD to have put it there ... can't fathom why it's Mother would have left it there ... what kind of shiny happy person would take it away from it's Mother and dumped it like that ? oh well Hiccup has a good home now ... so all's well that ends well

If it's a male and he'll let you catch him, take him in and get his dangly bits chopped off. It will at least slow down his peeing on every available surface so that the world knows it's his. It's also the responsible thing to do. If it's female, decide how bad you want kittens/male cats hanging out and plan accordingly.

I know a priest who named his cat Dammit, so I wouldn't change the name.

Siamese are climbers, and very energetic. If you allow it access to the shed, make sure it has a way to the rafters/top shelves. Will go far to getting rid of mice as well, they tend to head high when they can.

My wife found a litter of kittens in dumpster behind the KFC and we "saved" one. He was probably under 10 days old and we had to feed him with dropper, etc until he gained his strength. Named him "Little Bit" and he eventually grew into 20+ lb cat. He lived 18 yrs with us and was the only animal I have ever allowed to sleep on my bed in the last months of his life. He was big enough and mean enough that our other dogs and cats kept their distance.
