So, we've got a MADE thread, and a BROKE thread. How about a SOLD thread?

What did you purge from your life for good AND someone gave you money for it. Backstory a bonus, but not essential.

I'll start as I'm in purge mode and hopefully this motivates me to keep getting stuff out of my life.

Two years ago I got a FBM deal on two Kawasaki Mule 2520s with a spare engine. Their previous life was maintenance duty at an apartment complex. They both had hydraulic tilt beds and they were only $600. I wasn't the first buyer (I messaged when they had been up for 8 minutes) but told the seller to call me if the first buyer flaked. He did, and said come get them today if you want them as there are 6 messages behind you. Grabbed them both on my 18' car trailer (thanks winch!), brought them home and parked the trailer. Alas, that is where they stopped. Have stuff on your car trailer makes it MUCH harder to go make new bad decisions so it wasn't that big a deal.

Two weekends ago I offered to help Kurt grab his new project car. He helped me roll the Mules off and and we did a quick assessment on them. Couldn't get one motor to turn over jumping the starter, while the other had ignition parts missing and the tilt bed mechanism, while cool, would not graft over to my Mule 1000. So, time to get them gone.

Posted them on FBM last night for $600 and the first guy came at 10am today and grabbed them. He's an ex-Army blackhawk mechanic and flips generators on the side. Perfect guy to buy them. He has property near Tallahasee and plans to use them there. One of the Mules had a nice set of road going tires on it, while the "parts" mule had two major leakers. I had a spare set of older knobbies and they use the same bolt pattern 4x137 as my Mule 1000. I gave him the knobbies with the deal that he would get me back the road tires eventually as I can use them. If he hadn't bought them I had 5 guys in queue. Lots of people like a cheap UTV.

Bye Mules! Glad you are gone!

I'm trying to sell this, been back and forth with an interested person for days. If he doesn't decide soon, it's getting offered more widely.

Selling to pay some bills. In the meantime, this is going to be my winter project. Three years is long enough. I'm going have made real progress by springtime or selling.

I'm going to use this thread as my motivation to start emptying out my basement.  I've accumulated so much good stuff down there, but I'll never get around to using it before I sell the house and packing it all up would be a nightmare.

I am working on it ......but there is so much stuff collected over the past couple decades  I have lived in this house.!

Maybe if I moved every 5 years like many people a lot if  stuff would have gotten tossed at each move ,

And I am like Homer Simpson and get easily distracted  smiley    look a Squirrel  .......

Finally sold the summer set of wheels and tires for the Fiat Spider that I sold two years ago. Posted them locally on FBM and some guy named Warren responds and wants to buy them. I say, sure, where do you want to meet? Warren says, are you aware of the GRM Midwest get together? I'm like, wait? How did you know that I might know about that? Stop, look at Warren's profile. Ah, that makes more sense, it's DeadSkunk Warren. The world is a small place some times.

We met up on my way down to Thanksgiving with family in Toledo. It was great seeing him again and I'm sure they'll look great on his ND-RF. And the cash looks great going towards the next car thing.

Oh, I also sold 3 C5 anniversary rims to another GRMer, freed up some space and put a couple dollars in my wallet.

You guys sell stuff!?

To be fair, when we moved from Florida to New Mexico, I gave away a ton of stuff. Like a 2005 Honda Helix that didn't run and had no title. And all of the yard tools including a nice Ryobi electric pressure washer.

I had completely filled a 26' foot semi trailer. 20' of it was just my garage stuff. The rest of the house, including all of the furniture, fit in the remaining 6'. I literally had no more room.

Nobody would want a 123,000 mile Ford 200 six, right?

Apparently, I was wrong. Some fella drove from WV to my place in PA to hand me $100 for it. Hopefully later this week I will have someone pick up a 6 cylinder C4 bellhousing and torque converter, items I felt were so dumpster-worthy I offered them for free.

Next up, the rear axle, 4 lug wheels and 6 cyl brake parts as I finish upgrading the rest of the car to V8 spec.

While I haven't sold much, I have been tossing A LOT of things. With our house renovation, I've tossed at least 8 truckloads of just "stuff". A lot was trash, but there was a ton of clothes, tools, toys, PC parts, and some car parts mixed in there. How I amassed this much crap is beyond me, but I'm definitely more conscious of what I bring home now. It feels good to purge.

I also have been gearing up to actually sell some things that have more value, like video games, PC stuff (I have A LOT of laptops, long story) and more car parts. Need to fund my car projects one way or another, and I'll also use this thread as motivation. It's gotta go!

Some lightly used Cadillac 322 engine parts and some full wheel covers.  Hopefully will someday find or swap for the unicorn one year only hood springs.

What? We weren't supposed to use the money that quickly?

Those H4 Toyota Halogen headlights I just bought for $18 a set?

I'm putting one set on my Z and some day in the future I'll sell the other 2 sets I bought (or my kid will toss them into a big dumpster).

What sort of crazy person would buy three wheels? Does he have a trike?

Sold off a bunch of my late aunt's furniture that's been sitting in storage for ~6 years.

Need to clear out the storage unit so that I can move some of my stuff into it, and was planning to either donate, or put the furniture on consignment somewhere. Instead, I contacted a local used furniture store that specializes in mid-century stuff, sent them pictures, and the owner shows up with a truck, gives me money, and takes the furniture. Paid for about a year's worth of storage fees. Felt good to get the process of purging started...

I need to purge through my gaming collection. I plan on only keeping what I actually see myself playing or it has some kind of significant memory tied to it. I went through a phase when the Xbox 360 was starting to leave the shelves I'd just buy games at reduced prices to 'collect' them. I really had no reason to do that

I gave a rusty project 1984 Bronco to my daughter last night. Does that count? The deal had two strict requirements:

1.) It can't come to my house unless it is running and driving.

2.) There is a delivery charge of one large milkshake.

I think I did OK.

Sadly, it gained me zero space at the house since it is stored at a friend's place due to my over-crowding situation. It's a psychological start to a vehicle purge though, so I feel good about it.

I have been trying to clear out stuff for a while.  Eventually it ends up in the trash or scrap yard.  Current pile includes 200x suby HID conversion kits, a dual carb VW breather box, audi bag of snakes header and 25 bronze gate latches.  Not all crap is auto related!

In reply to californiamilleghia :

It's a "tilt" or "flip" nose. I intend to make it removable. The nose on the Challenge C3 is badly damaged and I couldn't pass this up.
