Oh I forgot Sherlock; great show. You can see the new ones on PBS, but I think season three ended already.
Maybe I'm alone in this, but I'm a lifelong Sherlock fan and really couldn't get into these. Maybe being a lifelong Sherlock fan is my handicap. In any case, I thought there was a lot of gee-whiz stuff that seemed to be aimed at 12 year olds and just couldn't stomach it.

The Long Way Round (Ewan McGreggor and Charlie Boorman ride around the Earth on motorcycles - AWESOME)
The Long Way Down (Ewan McGreggor and Charlie Boorman ride from Scotland to South Africa on motorcycles - also AWESOME)
I just wanted to bring this thread back to life and say a great thanks for the suggestion of Long Way Round/Down.
I really do not watch that much tele but in the few weeks since this was suggested, I have watched all 10 episodes of 'Round (like 10 hours), all 10 of 'Down as well as I then turned to youtube and watched all 6 more episodes of Charley's show, By Any Means.
In short, this is all I have watched for the past couple of weeks.
The shows are not perfect but it is some of that imperfection and sometimes low production value that truly presents that the adventure is real.
As you can tell, I highly recommend!
I next plan on Charley's experience of racing the Dakar.

Watched that recently. Would've made a great MST3K episode. So awesomely awful.
Good Ol' Freda is a great Beatles documentary, focusing on the life of the lady that ran their fan club, and went on about her life.
Cocaine Cowboys is an absolutely fascinating look at '80's IMSA racing, or at least some of its financing...
