One of the most unique bands to come out of the '90s, Soul Coughing dissolved into a puddle of infamous acrimony after just three albums. Heroin was a factor, then re-factored when the later-clean lead singer wrote an especially nasty memoir, in which he essentially E36 M3 on the band from cover to cover.
But miraculously, they've kissed and made up, perhaps cuz it's time to chase that sweet reunion-tour cash. Don't care why; gonna try to get tix.

Oh, yeah, I read that book.
Definitely going to try to make it to this one.
[edit]
Looks like the closest they're coming is the 9:30 Club in DC. Not a bad venue but prices aren't available yet and it's general admission only. I think I'm done with GA shows at my age.
I thought it was a joke at first. Unfortunately they will be touring nowhere near me.
i saw Mike Doughty when he was doing his solo stuff after he got off the heroin. I brought my "el oso" cd book for him to sign which he happily did, he offered to sign the ticket stub from the show too and in general was a really nice guy.
Many years after that he toured playing the "ruby vroom" album. I flew my dad, brother and i to memphis for the last show of the tour which is where he lives. We did the "blues tour" through the mississippi delta while out there. The "ruby vroom" show was amazing. Tiny little bar and he had his friend there, the lady who did the "jeanine" recording so we got to see that live. I talked to Mike after the show, told him we flew out for the show and were doing the blues stuff in the area and he says "STAX! You have to go to the STAX records museum!". We did go on his recommendation and it was awesome.
The book of drugs was a good read. I have the book he did after that but have not read it yet.
I was at a bar in Korea last week with colleagues and pulled up some M. Doughty on the bar's YouTube set up to counteract their classic rock and sorta-country. :)
Also, some G.Love, as we were already drinking cold beverages.
Didn’t know they imploded like that. Saw them open for TMGB.

In reply to David S. Wallens :
Yeah, comprehensively imploded.
If you read The Book Of Drugs, Doughty pretty much throws the whole rest of the band under the bus, starting almost from the moment they met.
Of course, Doughty also descended into a pretty solid heroin addiction at the same time. He did beat it, and was clean when he wrote the book, but it may or may not be a completely factual record of events. It is definitely a one-sided record of events.

Are you going to the showbox?
I told my girlfriend about them getting back together and she had no clue who they were. Too much mxpx and nofx when she was younger, I guess.
In reply to iansane :
Yup. Missed out on the band's pre-sale allotment yesterday, will hopefully get some tomorrow.
My buddy joked that the audience will all have gray hair, or no hair. Prior to my own gray hair, I saw them at the Crocodile and the Paramount back in the day, plus, more recently, Mike Doughty at the Triple Door; all good shows. As Duke also said, I'm just about aged out of GA rock shows, but I'm absolutely up for this one.

Oooh love me some M Doughty. Saw him a bunch of times solo after the breakup.
Saw solo stuff. Owned the albums. Love em.
Did not know the heroin implosion bits. I hope time truly heals all.
You get the ankles, I'll get the wrists.
